Phood Phun with Phlip - 'Zagna

This is about to be pretty simple…  That is a good thing because Mimi turned me loose on the kitchen by myself this week. While we prepared for the Fancy Vinegar Chicken , I had an epiphany.  When Mimi sliced up the zucchini on the mandoline, my brain yelled “LASAGNA!” and since my mouth is often captive to my brain’s random utterances, I found myself answering Mimi soon after it happened. So… What will be so easy about this? Why, the fact that we are using items/techniques that we have already employed!      As mentioned and linked above, the “noodles” for the lasagna will be zucchinis as thinly sliced as your mandoline can produce.  The sauce will be the same as we used in the spaghetti , and then again in the pizza post.      To save you the time of going back to either of those, I will start with the toolkit for the sauce here: 1pkg italian sausages 20oz ground turkey 1 jar spaghetti sauce italian seasonings 1 bag shredded Italian cheese Ricott

Mayor Littlefinger

In 2002, The Wire debuted on HBO. It is, in my opinion, one of the best three television shows of the last twenty years.  Will discuss one of the other two in a minute. Each season of The Wire introduced a new layer of involvement in the inner workings of the Baltimore crime infrastructure that the show detailed the workings of.  Once introduced, each element remained a part of the story for the remainder of the series (except for the sometimes boring season two stuff) . The focus of 2004’s third season of the show was local politicians, including what would become Tommy Carcetti’s bold and unlikely run as a white mayor of a Chocolate City.  Carcetti was introduced in 09/19/20041’s episode “Time After Time” and would appear in 35 total episodes until the very end of the series. An ambitious city councilman who would announce to a sitting mayor that he intended to unseat him before going out and doing JUST that.  A white man in a black city?  You have GOT to admire th

I Apologize...

I apologize… I apologize to me.  I apologize for thinking that a lack of attention equated to a dearth of people who cared.  I apologize for going dark instead of continuing to chase a dream. I apologize for letting my output suffer while I felt like shit. I apologize to my work for neglecting it because I felt like shit. I apologize to my keyboard for apparently forgetting that she was apparently the only one that I could tell anything and everything. [ Phlip note : yes, my keyboards are all women] I apologize to both of my readers for--…  No wait, I thank you both for sticking with me despite a complete lack of explanation. I apologize to myself for denying myself the practice necessary to get and be better at the one thing I have always wanted to do.      Most importantly… I apologize for entertaining the suggestion that what I wanted to do was “stupid” (her words, not mine) and subsequently second-guessing myself to the point o

True Story©... Quaaludes!

(fuck me, I went for the obvious one again!) The year was 2006… I had this friend I hung out with from time to time. Let me quit bullshitting…  We had known each other since I was like 13 or 14, she was at least 4 or 5 years younger so nothing ever happened until she approached me when I was 25 and she was legal.  We were diddling and had been for months, off and on.  Basically we would come back to it when both of us were between relationships and continued doing that shit until each of us met the people we would eventually marry and have both since divorced.  After then and ever since, we have been mature acquaintances who avoid being in the same place at the same time. Anyway, that isn’t the point of this story today. 10-11 years ago, I had a friend with benefits.  Boundaries existed and were never fucked with, so all was good.  In the late spring, she had a family member (aunt, great-aunt, something – for the continuity of this story, it will be an aunt) who passed
