My previous brushes with DARE [ link 1 ] [ link 2 ] notwithstanding, there is apparently good money in fucking lying to children and gullible parents of children as it relates to the distribution of drugs.      As kids, they told us that the big evil drug dealers’ M.O. was to simply give a kid some drugs to get them hooked, and thereby make them a customer for the rest of their miserable little lives. First of all.  That is a shitty business model… Kids. don’t. have. money. Second of all, who has this kind of work to just GIVE away?  Even on The Wire, they would throw out “testers” in very small amounts only to alert the local paying customers of the quality of the shit they could then buy, but not in quantities that would get them hooked on the first try, which brings me to… … the ONLY drug known to humankind that can prove addictive immediately upon the very first time you have it is pussy. Ask me how I know, I DARE you.      So for the last few years

(fuck me, I went for the obvious one again!) The year was 2006… I had this friend I hung out with from time to time. Let me quit bullshitting…  We had known each other since I was like 13 or 14, she was at least 4 or 5 years younger so nothing ever happened until she approached me when I was 25 and she was legal.  We were diddling and had been for months, off and on.  Basically we would come back to it when both of us were between relationships and continued doing that shit until each of us met the people we would eventually marry and have both since divorced.  After then and ever since, we have been mature acquaintances who avoid being in the same place at the same time. Anyway, that isn’t the point of this story today. 10-11 years ago, I had a friend with benefits.  Boundaries existed and were never fucked with, so all was good.  In the late spring, she had a family member (aunt, great-aunt, something – for the continuity of this story, it will be an aunt) who passed

True Story© On the Public Speaking Circuit

When I came home from jail and following all of the legal wrangling following my last run-in stemming from the D.A.R.E. program, I found myself without job and made ends meet with day labor, odd jobs and handyman shit.  The military was still doing me filthy after my time in Vietnam, so I got little help on that front. Eventually, I parlayed my experience with what was THOUGHT to be addiction (but was really dealing) to street drugs and the violent rage that had landed me in a bad place as a result of it into some speaking engagements.  Basically, some non-profits got wind of me and my situations and wanted to talk to me about them.  After I described to them what I had been through and what it had brought me to, their line of questioning turned more to what I had learned from it all and they decided that they may be able to sustain me by letting me tell my stories.                 With them handling the scheduling of their events, transportation and a per diem wh

True Story© - D.A.R.E. Made Me This Way

True story®… Backstory: I was born in 1979, which lined up my attendance of elementary school directly with the second half of the 80s. For those of us who attended gradeschool in the 80s, we were faced with a program called D.A.R.E. from 4th-8th grades, aimed at preventing kids from placing themselves in compromising situations as it related to narcotics. Dead ass in the middle of the War On Drugs at the time, they spent more time where I lived on street drugs that people who looked like us might develop an appetite for: heroin and crack. One fatal flaw of the program – at least where I lived – is that the cops they sent to our schools were somewhere between being poorly trained and being insultingly dishonest. One of my favorite lies they told us is that drug dealers were terrible people and that they actually SOUGHT kids out to give – yes, GIVE – drugs to in order to get them to try them and get them hooked on drugs. Before I continue my story, let me explain how deeply flawed this
