True Story©… Credit Repair

If I could use these powers for good, I am not all the way sure I ever actually would… Wait, put a pin in that.   It will come back up on the final exam.        My city has spent the last few years basically criminalizing homelessness.   The able cannot feed them of their own free will unless they have an organization or church allowed to do so.   They themselves cannot have signs specifically requesting money when standing on the corners and the most insidious is that they have to go downtown and get a PERMIT to stand on the corners with the signs! More recently, there have been signs going up on signs in medians that there is to be no standing there.   This was presented as a necessity to keep traffic safely and unobstructedly moving.      In that last point, I saw an opportunity… The “opportunity,” as it were, involved a newly minted lack of competition for eyeball equity on the corners where drivers become a captive audience. WHAT?!!? Thank you for asking.

True Story©… Used to Be the Man

Image
I’m a pretty unmistakable guy.   Even in public in a mask, people can usually tell who I am from sight distance.   My walk, my watch, my hair – even my beard poking out the sides and bottom of the mask.   Add the whimsy of the mask itself and people tend to recognize me when they see me out. Even when I wish I had been able to hide from them.      After the Rona scare where I was miraculously the only one who didn’t get it, we came to the family decision that of anyone was to venture out for sundries, I would be sacrificed the one to do it.   Still no wanton browsing, digging around in the mall for bullshit and my Hot Wheels searching field trips are usually baked into Wal Mart and Dollar General runs. This story isn’t directly about that…      Recently, on one of those early-morning – I had to learn to go to the grocery store at 7am when y’all started wilding over fucking toilet paper in April – runs to Food Lion down near the house for coffee creamer and toilet paper (

True Story©… "Missed" Connections

Image
Sometimes a “missed” connection is not actually one that was worth maintaining. I fully remember most of the people I went to high school with, and have maintained constant contact with the ones I choose to in the 23 years since.  Even before social media became a thing.  There are some, however, that I decided even then that I would never speak to once I set foot off of campus.  Those are the ones I’ve seen at football games when outside was still open, at the grocery store or Wal Mart here and there and will resort to wily tactical maneuvers to avoid being seen. But there is a neutral middle ground as well. That middle ground is basically not the people I might have referred to as “friends,” but surely aren’t the ones who made my life difficult. Somewhere between the former and latter in the above-named, are the people who clearly peaked RIGHT there in accomplishment and maturity.  Sadly, some of those individuals are living the ol’ AL Bundy “four touchdowns in one game
