Some Thoughts on Game of Thrones S7E6

Image
(look, you don't just give me Missandei's fine ass BUTT naked and then take it from me!)      Yes, I watch Game of Thrones too. Warning : I will talk about things that HAVE happened on the show and while some call these “spoilers,” I do not since the shit has been online since Thursday and officially available since last night.  If you don’t want spoilers, please close your browser tab. I won’t approach this like a normal episode recap, because you should have known not to expect normal from me. So here we go… Game of Thrones.  Season 7, Episode 6: Beyond The Wall .      Let me start off by saying that sending a ragtag bunch of misfits into someone else’s home turf to kidnap one person to show the rest of the world they exist seems like a patently horrible idea.  It is a horrible idea with sound reasoning, but still patently horrible. The brightest spot of the early episode was the back-and-forth between Tormund Giantsbane and Sandor Clegane. I wil

First thing’s first.  No one is paying me to post this. [ Note : if you want to, though, the PayPal link is on the left] Now that we got THAT out of the way, let’s get down to it. September 2014, my iPod Nano finally succumbed to too many drops and started to bust open at the top.  I had gotten it second hand and I was not about to lay out the cash for any Apple product at the time. I went with the Sony NWZ-E380 Walkman and it served me masterfully for years.  Gym duty, outdoor workouts, sitting on the couch reading/writing, yard work and most importantly, DAILY droning out of office chatter.      “Well why don’t you use your phone for all that, Phlip?” Thanks for asking, I USED to use my phones for all of that, but I found myself in possession of charger-dependent phones due to the constant need of charge due to 8-hours-a-day constant usage. Anyway.  Syncing the Sony last week brought me to the realization that it has met its demise. I sent it on to glory (did

What is Love?

Image
(sorry, I HAD to do it)      For all we think we know about love, the real fact of the matter is that we really don’t know shit. Ask 50 people the question “what is love?” and you will get 47 answers. Sure, there is a textbook definition: But really, what does all of that tell us?  We have a biblical edict to love one another, but I am have been through my bible time again and have yet to find the words on exactly HOW to do so. Please note, I am taking nothing from my bible as I find nothing anywhere else specifically telling me this either. We find ourselves left to learning everything we know about love from those who love/loved us… My pops: I don’t know I am willing to call this love.  Sure I know him, but do I?  So little was contributed, so little was available that his mother did most of the things that he should have been doing for us.  To him and to everyone he should have been making moves for, his love was for himself. Shit, if this lottery ticket i

Sometimes I ROYALLY fuck things up, despite beginning with the greatest of intentions… One time back in, what, 2009-2010ish?  I posted a status on FB with the intentions of posting some of what came back to me here.  I never quite got the number of responses I wanted, so I never managed to get a post up and going.      I am having a hard time locating that post, but basically it asked “if you could write a letter to your 13 year-old self, what would you say?” Some responses were comical (“don’t go to work on [day] so that bitch won’t fire you…”) , some were poignant (“kids are mean, don’t let those boys in 3 rd grade damage you forever…”) and some seemed to miss the point altogether.      One time, three years later, I went back to the email I received from one person and thought over it. [ Phlip note : I removed names to protect the guilty parties] (apologies, I normally downsize images, but this one needs to be seen in full) I Was Not Ready
