Writing About Writing Vol. 19
How goes that saying about old dogs and new tricks? Well this will be the first salvo in a new approach around here.
As those of you who know me personally know, I have expanded my lawn work to a page I created last year on YouTube as well. I feel like I'm finding my footing when it comes to capturing and editing video and I'm only getting better. Considering how very little I knew when I started, I'm quite proud of my progress.
Alongside the yard work, another thing I'm comfortable in my ability of is writing. I've always preferred dead-tree reading and have learned a shift to online reading as I have taken a shine to online writing, but I have never quite been able to get behind the concept of e-books. One thing I have noticed is that a great many others swear by being able to listen to what was written, be it in the car or the office or even just milling about their daily errands.
A decision was made...
Since I have taught myself piecing together videos for the lawn care YouTube, I have decided to do something similar for True Story©...
And this is why this post qualifies as Writing About Writing...
What I will do is use the same AI image I created for the story as a background on a YouTube video, then I will either find an acceptable-to-me AI narration tool -- or voice it over myself -- to be posted on my personal YouTube channel instead of the lawncare one. For those of you who already follow the Phlip Mows It channel, note that these will come on the CallMePhlip channel to best match my website URL and keep this content separate from my yard work. Naturally the best way to ensure that tone and inflection -- and proper pronunciation of words I have made up -- is for me to narrate them myself but despite the fact that my YouTube narration has actually been received quite well, I really don't like my voice and I get very nervous having to present publicly.
This will take some practice, and this post will serve as the beginning of that practice.
This approach might require a mild shift in how I do the stories, at least the version I load into whatever AI tool I settle on, but it really seems that a companion posting to every story may help me in achieving the engagement and reach that I've always wanted my writing to get.
With all of you in tow, let's get on with this stick-and-move!
