Wayback - 1999 edition

You should both be familiar with my 1998 , 1996 and 1997 editions, and perhaps have noted that I will likely be doing one of these whenever the inclination hits me... I will not promise to keep them in order, as I have not to this point, only posting them whenever I feel like it. I will also not commit to how many or what years I will do here, as it is very much possible that I could be fully entrenched in WANTING to write something on a specific year, but left with nothing of special interest to write about in any particular depth.        I am an awful liar… I don't mean that as in "I'm awful because I lie a lot," I mean it as in "I am awful at lying" .  Yes, there is absolutely a difference      I tell the band kids all the time to just be straight up with shit, because maintaining a lie is not e'em worth it in the grandest scheme of things.  Something I learned when I was drinking is -- outside of WILDLY entertaining stories -- how hard it is to remember all of the elements of a non-truth when the truth is what actually happened.  You ain't gotta work to remember shit if you stick to what actually happened in the first place. … unless, of course, you can convince yourself that the lie you're telling is the actual truth, in which case congratulations you're a fucking sociopath and master manipulator.      Anyway… I'm just getting off work a couple weeks ago and had to go scout a couple of lawns I cut, plus run quotes on two new ones.  I'm not ...

The extinction of the American male

This is a result of a grouping of conversations beginning on Facebook from a good friend of mine, which expanded to include my mother... From there, it went over onto my own profile, then a couple of other friends, but the major conversation took place right on my page. I knew when I responded to Derek on the first one that there would be an exchange to be featured right here on the blog. Yes, I know that this will make like 4 posts in 2-3 days, but damned if I have it in me to care. I stalled on presenting a "question of the day," so I will go right in on something else born of a Facebook conversation. It boiled down to what became a status update from me, which read " Skinny jeans and all that come with them are the undoing of the American male...
