Cartoon Disassembly 101: Session 10 (guest blog series)

The following was originally written by the homie Galen Henderson... With his permission, and in response to a Facebook status message about how comically asinine the villains' plots were on Voltron while snowed in this weekend led him to share this piece with me. With his permission, I am presenting it to the two of you.
There are surely more parts to this series, but I will be sharing the all of them with you complete with link.
Episodes 8 and 9 were interrupted when our professor was presumably kidnapped by some nerds over pokemon comments, and clearly suffering from a bit of dementia as a result for the next.

And now we will get right down to business...

Ok, class....... I'm almost back to my regular self so that means back to the grind of destroying the classics.

This week, we look at...... THE THUNDERCATS!!!

Ah yes, another 80s great. The artwork was 2nd to none.... the dialog however, left a hell of a lot to be desired.

Okay.... I gotta admit as a kid the first episode had me hyped as hell. Why? Well at that time it was early PR0N!! You got a bunch of catlike looking people running around NEKKID!!! And the best of all: Cheetarah or however her name is spelled.

Cartoon pr0n aside.... actually, that was a big part of the show with all of the phallic symbols spread out (no pun intended.... maybe) through out the series.

Let's look at it: Everytime that Lion-O needed to call the Thundercats, he had to WHIP out his sword and sling it around until it tripled from it's original length. I think he's trying to compensate for some smaller issue, but I'm not sure.

Another thing about that, I think this guy completely insulted the team and they never realized it. I mean hell, this guy called them all Ho's everytime he needed their help.

I'm not gonna go into full detail about the problems of each individual. I'm just doing an overview of the series.... with a few exceptions as necessary.

On the internet, floats the outtakes of the voice recordings from the series. These delve into the sick and funny minds of the various voice actors of the show.

Now.... to discuss Mum-Ra is an interesting case. I mean you got this scrawny old mummy by all rights should be dead. But due to the overwhelming power of evil is kept alive. He does a speech which injects him with steroids and he becomes a muscle-bound spell caster that can fly.

His weakness? Anytime he looks in a reflective surface (i.e. a mirror) he gets weakened, scared, and runs away. So what does that mean?

Simple, really.... to quote Suge Avery from The Color Purple: "Damn!! You sho is ugly!!!!"

There's probably more that I'm missing, but I don't feel like going into it anymore.

The first time I saw Charles S. Dutton, either on 'Roc' or on 'Menace II Society', the first word that popped into my mind was "Panthro". Just saying.

Snarf (snarf).....For the motherfuckin' win!

Fun fact, Grands... Panthro was ACTUALLY voiced by the dude who played Heathcliff Huxtable's dad on The Cosby Show.
