With the success of last week's QOTD, I decided that I would probably make a point of dropping one of those on Facebook, email and yaddayaddayadda about every time I can think of one. Today's comes in the wake of Tiger Woods' epic bitch move in apologizing in the face of not having actually broken any laws. [ Phlip note - more on that in a later post] The question presented was " in the wake of all this tiger talk... would you rather your significant other cheat on you or just leave? (3) The Death of Executive Production

The Executive Producer is usually the least important individual on the actual production of an album, but the most important in the PRESENTATION of the album. As odd as that may sound, when one considers that the individual usually does have some hand in the production of the music contained on said album, but also has other non-musical duties as well. Such as... Minding the budget Legwork to secure promotion of the album Choosing which songs make the album and The order in which those chosen songs will be presented People who make the name "executive producer" one worth striving to achieve in spite of being a largely figurehead title to hold have always been DJ Premier (Gang Starr, others) , Large Professor (Main Source) , ?uestlove (D'Angelo, Common, The Roots) , MC Serch (3rd Bass, Nas) , and Prince Paul (3rd Bass, De La Soul, himself and many others) . Reaching the end of my rope

As the NBA lockout continues, and with an infant standing between me and full nights’ sleep for what is now 7 weeks, I might be growing a bit ornery… Add to that the fact that VERY LITTLE good music has come out over the course of this summer and I am borderline psychopath. So far this summer, we have gotten albums from Jay-Z & Kanye Zest and another from Lil’ Wayne. It is hard to have been a fan of hip hop in general for as long as I have without having some admiration for Jay-Z’s work, and I have gone on record explaining that I do not dislike Lil’ Wayne, especially Tha Carter III. While most people pin Tha Carters I and II as his arrival as the most improved rapper in hip hop history, I count part III as his magnum opus. Try as he might, there will just not be anything better than that from him. HOWEVER I am deeply disappointed in what has been presented on both of these albums. I burned a copy of Watch the Throne that I downloaded at a cost of about $0.58....
